How should I decide which contractor or roofing company to select?
A home is a family’s greatest investment. You should go with a reputable contractor/roofing company that you can trust to do the job right. Why the name Covering?
After years in the roofing, construction and home service industry we have seen a big need for simplicity and quality service. Instead of starting with margins and profit, we wanted to take a whole new approach to how we service customers. We started with people in mind, and built from there.
By definition a roof is a ‘covering’ over a dwelling. Our name reflects our desire for a new, simple, innovative, customer driven approach to roofing. We hope you like it.
Is Covering Insured?
Yes, we are fully insured. Though it's not required in many areas for roofing companies to have liability insurance, it's a good idea to find a contractor who is insured in case the worst happens while a contractor is on your roof.

Do you storm chase?
No. We are based here in DFW, with our headquarters in McKinney, family owned, and locally operated. We stand behind every roof with an industry leading 5 year warranty on our work, and so we need to be here to back that up. That’s why we only do work in our service area and our local community.
In other words, we’ll be around if you have an issue. We are in it for the long run, not a quick buck.
Do you have a warranty?
Yes. We stand behind our work. We offer the industry leading 5 year warranty on all labor and workmanship.
Furthermore, depending on your choice, most material (roofing shingles) we use come with a 25 to 30 year manufacturer's warranty. For more detail on our warranty call us at (972) 972-4727.
Can I do the work myself?
It’s not recommended for a homeowner climb on their roof. There is a high risk of injury, and if the job is not done right, additional water can severely damage the home. Furthermore, mistakes and accidents on the job happen. Homeowners Insurance companies also require that the new roof is done right.
What other work can you do?
Covering specializes in residential roofing and general contracting surrounding insurance claims from storm damage. So if your gutters, and siding is damaged, we can do that too. We do gutters, siding, painting, decking, doors, windows and anything related to your insurance claim.
We work with an excellent network of specialists, helping you every step of the way. We do all the legwork so you can sit back and relax.
What materials do you work with?
Since we guarantee our work, we strive for highest-quality materials and workmanship. Primarily, we work with GAF Timberline HD® Shingles and Owens Corning® Roofing Shingles, who provide excellent quality and durability for residential roofing. We do work with other materials on request, so please ask your dedicated project manager to review the options for your home.
Can I choose my roofing colors?
Oh yes. We will leave you with all the color and type shingle samples so you can get everything just right. Keep in mind, that most communities have HOA requirements, so you’ll also want to check with them to understand options. Most homeowners simply replace the roof with a similar color to the original damaged roof.
Does Covering offer financing?

How long will it take to replace my roof?
Most roof replacements can be done in a day or two. Some can take a little longer, however our trained roofing inspectors and project managers can give you all the details during the full roof inspection.
How much will my roof cost to replace?
Every roof is different, and pricing varies based on many factors. Our certified inspectors will be able to give you all the measurements and estimates within minutes of our free ‘26 point inspection’.
We use the latest technology including satellite imagery to give you the most accurate cost assessment possible.
Pricing for the new roof, or the repair is normally determined per square foot. Cost will depend on the roofing layers being removed, pitch of the roof, material choices, and height from the ground. Most Insurance claims will cover the full cost minus the policy deductible. The amount of the deductible is based on your homeowner's insurance policy terms.

What causes damage on the roof?
Most commonly, high winds can rip and even pull off shingles, leaving the roof deck, underlayment or old shingles from a previous roof all exposed to rain, hail, and wind.
Heavy winds can also curl and lift shingles by breaking the seal that bonds them together, leaving your roof extremely vulnerable to weather damage.
A hail storm can leave dents and divots in shingles, destroying the protective granules that preserve against rain and sun damage.
